I’m very picky when it comes to optimizing my WordPress blogs and CMS websites. Personally, I feel WordPress should make it optional to have the ‘Category Base’ in your URL structure. Having /category/ in your URL structure is unnecessary, and just makes your URLs sloppy. Luckily, there’s an out-the-box WordPress plugin that removes the mandatory ‘Category Base’ from your category permalinks: WP No Category Base.

This plugin removes the ‘Category Base’ from your category permalinks, i.e., `voi6.com/category/wordpress-category/` to `voi6.com/wordpress-category/`), and 301 redirects old category links to the new ones. Its easy to implement; Simply install and activate. I give it 5 stars!

Download the WP No Category Base plugin for WordPress now.
